Oct 3rd, 2013 | Category: Animals

LYNDEN – The Northwest Washington Fair presents the annual Horse Expo on Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 6, and have changed the name this year to the Lynden Horse Expo & Draft Horse Spectacular. Participants can attend a variety of clinics regarding horse care and training, and learn how to drive a hitch of draft horses,  among other things. The weekend features a number of professional horse clinicians, breed exhibitors, and an equine emporium. The “Extreme Cowboy Race” is a timed race with obstacles designed to test the communication and horsemanship of each team. Three draft horse driving clinics are scheduled, the first being introductory information about driving and required for anyone signing up for the second or third clinic. The other clinics cover areas such as safety around the horses, how to get started driving and will offer participants an actual driving experience of a hitch of draft horses. An advanced informational clinic that will cover topics such as hooking multiple teams to a wagon and how to hold the lines. All three clinics are open to horse expo spectators and is included in admission. In addition, the Saturday Night Extravaganza features draft horse hitches from around the region. To register, or for more information, contact Maryjo at the NW Washington Fair office at (360) 354-4111 or visit nwwafair.com/p/Events/305.
