Farm Machinery Safety Workshop available online
Apr 21st, 2020 | Category: NewsSKAGIT – WSU Skagit Extension is offering their Farm Machinery Safety Workshop online this spring, a very unique opportunity to receive safety training operating a tractor of more than 20 horsepower, connecting and disconnecting implements, and operating certain farm machines. This course consists of 25 hours of in class and outside tractor driving/testing. The program was designed both for youth living on family farms and for 14- and 15-year-olds but can be taken by anyone, including beginning farmers, who want to be certified under the provisions of the Agricultural Hazardous Occupations Order (AgHOs) to perform certain work activities on a farm operation, or to acquire valuable safety education.
Classes will be held via Zoom in 2020. Zoom details will be provided after registration. Tests will be taken at home and/or Farmers Equipment Company (17893 Hwy 20) in Burlington. The total cost of the workshop is $75. A deposit of $25 is required to hold your spot. The remaining $50 is due by the end of the course if you wish to receive a certificate. If you do not want a certificate, your total cost is $25. Scholarships are also available.
