Master Gardener sales coming up

COUNTIES – The Snohomish, Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan chapters of Master Gardeners will hold their plant sales this month. The Snohomish sale will be held Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McCollum Park, 600 128th St E in Everett. Approximately 5,000 tomatoes starts will be available, as well as 4,000 herb and vegetable starts, trees, berries, and more. Specialty vendors will be on site. On Saturday, May 12 the Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan sales will be held. The Whatcom sale will take place at Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Master Gardeners will offer tomatoes, perennials, herbs and trees for sale, as well as the Plant Clinic Booth (participants can bring questions about diseases or plant issues) and the Family Activity Table where children can learn about plants and discover the Children’s Story Garden. The Skagit sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Skagit County Fairgrounds Building F in Mount Vernon. Many varieties of tomatoes, vegetable starts, peppers, herbs, annuals, and perennials will be available. The WSU Master Gardener clinic will be open for questions and answers to home gardening issues, as well as educational booths, vendors and garden art. The San Juan sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mullis Community Senior Center, 589 Nash Street in Friday Harbor. Lots of plant starts, flowers and more. The local animal shelter will also be on site with their orchid/bake sale fundraiser. Sale proceeds support the support the Master Gardener programs.
