ORCAS – The second Annual Orcas Island Cider and Mead Festival will be held Saturday, May 12 at the Eastsound Village Green, also the Opening Day for the Orcas Island Farmers Market. Northwest hard cider and mead producers including Finnriver, Wescott Bay, Sky River, Alpenfire, Edgemount and Tieton Cider Works will gather under the tasting tent from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, Orcas Island homebrewers will be competing for  “Orcas Best of the Fest.”

Anyone over 21 will be able to taste the ciders and meads for an admission fee based on the desired number of tastes, proceeds of which benefit the Orcas Island Farm to Cafeteria Program. Co-organizers of the event are Ray’s General Store and Pharmacy and the Northwest Cider Association. Orcas Island musicians will provide entertainment.  The week before the event, cider and mead makers will have food pairings and products featured at various Orcas Island restaurants including Allium, Inn at Ship Bay and The Kitchen.
