Master Gardener application deadline extended in Snohomish

Nov 1st, 2012 | Category: News

SNOHOMISH – The WSU-Snohomish County Extension Master Gardener program has extended their deadline for accepting applications for the 2013 training class to Thursday, Nov. 15. This comprehensive training program runs daytime Thursdays for 13 weeks beginning in January and covers a wide range of horticultural topics, which train Master Gardener volunteers to become community educators and mentors in home gardening and in sound environmental stewardship techniques. Training includes 80 hours of classroom and workshop instruction as well as online instruction using your home computer. Classes are held at the Extension Office at 600 – 128th Street at McCollum Park in South Everett from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Tuition for this extensive training program is $245 to cover the direct costs plus a volunteer commitment of 50 hours each year for two years working with over 300 other Master Gardeners on a variety of community educational projects. Without the volunteer commitment, tuition is $745. For more information and an application, visit the Extension website at snohomish.wsu.edu and look under “News and Announcements,” call the Master Gardener Hotline at 425-357-6010 weekdays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., or e-mail howard.voland@wsu.edu. Applications received after the Nov. 15 deadline may be considered if space becomes available before classes start on Jan. 3.
