Jan 31st, 2013 | Category: News

NORTHWEST – Three local farms – Bob’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Farm in Snohomish, The Farm at Swan’s Trail in Snohomish and BelleWood Acres in Bellingham – will be visited by more than 350 farmers from all over the U.S. and Canada during the North American Farm Direct Marketing bus tour on Saturday, Feb. 2. A total of 15 farms in Washington and Oregon are featured on the tour, and this year’s theme is “Blaze Trails in the Pacific Northwest.”  Participating farmers will be able to tour the northwest farms and facilities, hear their stories and view their products and offerings.

Bob’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Farm, run by Bob and Sarah Ricci, with their five daughters, offers a fall festival including a10-acre corn maze, two kids mazes, pumpkin patch, and food. The farm started more than 30 years ago when owner Bob, as a boy, started selling sweet corn at a small stand on the side of the road at his grandfather’s farm.

The Farm at Swan Trail is operated by Ben and Carol Krause, who took their background in teaching and created the “The Washington State Corn Maze,” a popular attraction for schoolchildren and visitors since 1997. The maze features a giant map of Washington, with more than 250 state roads and 400 towns and landmarks, and 600 signs. A new completely enclosed wedding building was opened on the property in 2012, and their grown children help run the farm.

BelleWood Acres, operated by John & Dorie Belisle, offers visitors to their 25,000 apple orchard and farm a look at their new 14,000 square foot facility, including an eatery, shop space with local products, and distillery, featuring various spirits crafted in small batches.U-pick and we-pick is available during the season, as well as a pumpkin patch, fresh cider and more. The initial orchard was planted in 1996.
