Veggie U 2013: Free series under way at Anacortes Library, seed swap set

ANACORTES – Veggie U 2013, a series of classes put on by the Eat Your Yard folks in Anacortes, held its first class on Thursday evening, Jan. 31 at the Anacortes Library, and will continue to offer free sessions through early March. All sessions are free and run from 6:45 pm – 8:15 pm at the Anacortes Library. The following dates are available: Tuesday, Feb. 5: Gardening Basics I with Dr. Carol Miles; Tuesday, Feb. 12: Gardening Basics II with Dr. Miles; Tuesday, Feb. 19: Cool-season Veggies with Chris Damarjian and Joan Petrick; Thursday,  Feb. 21: Chicken Workshop; Thursday, Feb. 28:  Warm-season Veggies with Becky Stinson; and Tuesday, March 5: Fall-winter Gardening with Peter Heffelfinger. In addition, the second annual seed swap will be held Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Anacortes Senior Center (time to be announced), following the Jeane Thompson Memorial Lecture on gardening.
