Dairy manure to power: Anaerobic digestion Field Day tour July 10

Jul 1st, 2013 | Category: News

LYNDEN – The public is welcome to tour two local sites of anaerobic digestion during a Field day event at the Vander Haak and Edaleen Dairies in the Lynden area on Wednesday, July 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and options sites from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The anaerobic digestion process biodegrades the manure and captures methane that is then used to generate renewable power. Liquid from the digester can be used as fertilizer on fields and digester solids can be composted or used for cow bedding. This tour will feature information from WSU researchers and their commercial partners about the newest developments in anaerobic digestion (AD) system technologies, including nutrient recovery, renewable natural gas, value-added products, commercialization after testing and a demonstration. A lunch is provided to tour participants. Space is limited, and registration must be made by July 2. For more information, visit
