SkillShare Faire offers weekend of workshops, barter booths

The Whatcom SkillShare Faire returns for a second year, this time to Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale the weekend of Saturday 21-22.

Presented by Transition Whatcom, the event features two days of workshops, skill sharing, barter booths, and live music by local performers. Admission is $8 per person per day, and hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to  11 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This year’s workshops and skill shares include: growing mushrooms, archery, fiber arts (raising sheep and llamas, spinning, weaving and knitting, rags to rugs, and more), beekeeping, animal husbandry (goats, horses, livestock and poultry butchering), how to revive your old sewing machine, home skills (drawing, cooking, cake decorating, sewing and more), preventive auto maintenance, fermentation and brewing, home wine-making on a shoestring, wilderness first aid, using tools and tool safety, basic bike repairs, home electrical repair, making goat cheese, water conservation, herbal remedies, survival skills, telling good stories, and more.
