Compost and soils workshop Oct. 7

STANWOOD – Information from soil scientists and a tour of a local compost producer are included in the free Compost and Soils Workshop and Field Day coming up Monday, Oct. 7 at the Stanwood Fairgrounds. The event presents current WSU compost research and trials on local farms, and allows visitors to tour commercial composting at Lenz Enterprises and an on-farm compost trial. Speakers include soil scientists Doug Collins, PhD and Andy Bary of WSU Puyallup Research and Extension Center, as well as Andrew Corbin, PhD and Hallie Harness of WSU Snohomish County Extension. Peter Moon, President and Principal Engineer of PME / O2Compost will also be on hand. The event takes place  9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is required and lunch is provided.
