Rome Grange raising $50,000 for new septic system

Oct 4th, 2013 | Category: Community

ROME – The Rome Grange is reaching out to the community at large and its members in an effort to raise $50,000 for a new septic system.  The Grange, located on Mount Baker Highway east of Bellingham, is host to its own grange group, and currently offers a monthly pancake breakfast open to the public, other events, as well as a meeting space for local organizations such as the Boy Scouts, 4-H, FFA and an exercise group. The Grange must install a commercial septic system, as outlined by the Whatcom County Healthy Department, to replace the 60-year-old system. The change in system will allow for the Grange to host larger events and potentially have more rental opportunities, however the septic costs are higher than anticipated. For more information or to donate, contact Jean Cress at (360) 319-0821, or drop off donations at their monthly pancake breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 6.
