Community Garden grants available

WHATCOM – Community garden grant applications are available through the WSU Extension Community First Garden (CFG) Project, which provides funding, technical support and education to new and established community gardens throughout Whatcom County.

To date, the group has funded a total of 152 raised beds, 2  hoop houses, fencing, soil amendments, vegetable starts, seeds, tools and more. Guidelines for proposals are found in the application at http://whatcom.wsu.edu/ch/assistance.html. Recipients include: Ferndale Friendship Garden, Everson Community Garden, Cordata Community Garden, Lydia Place, Sterling Paz Community Garden.  Sudden Valley Community Garden, Maple Falls, Meridian Middle School, Faith Lutheran Church, York Neighborhood Farm, and the East County Resource Center. Master Gardener advisors and free educational seminars are also available when needed.

  1. Does this program extend to Skagit County or is there an equivalent in Skagit County? We need some financial help with our community garden as it expands its size and location.
