Meet Your Farmer to connect farmers, residents; more sign-ups welcome

Feb 3rd, 2014 | Category: News

EVERETT – The public is invited to a “Meet Your Farmer Day” on Friday, Feb. 28, a first annual winter gathering organized by and featuring local farmers to connect with residents for the season and beyond, and network with the community at large. CSA farms, as well as beef, cheese and other producers from Snohomish, Skagit, Island, and Whatcom counties are welcome to attend. Participating farms currently include Skipley Farm, Caruso Farms, Shambala Farm and Nursery, Chinook Farms, SongCroft Naturals, and the Sno-Isle Permaculture Network. The event is also a fundraiser for Farmer Frog, a school garden-to-market to low-income family program meant to get people active in local agriculture, including raising awareness about local farms, stands, and markets, and gardening know-how. The group is lead by Zsofia Pasztor, who will give the keynote address. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Olivia Park Elementary School, located at 200 108th St. SE in Everett. Participating farmers and producers should bring their own table and informational materials. For more information, contact Nancy Chase, of Shambala Farm, at Nancy@ShambalaFarm.com or (360) 387-4110. Participants can RSVP at  www.meetup.com/SIPN-Sno-Isle-Permaculture-Network/.
