Farmers Market season has arrived, and more than 30 local markets are offering a diverse mix of farmers, food producers, craft vendors and more in our northwest corner this year. Enjoy!

ISLAND

Bayview Farmers Market opened April 16 and will run Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 25. Their new location this year is at Bayview Corner, at Highway 525 and Bayview Road (follow the large farmers market sign). Clinton Thursday Market will be held July 3 through Aug. 28 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Clinton Community Hall, SR525 at Humphrey (about 1/2 mile from the ferry). Mix of vendors including local produce and flowers, music, chefs, beer and wine garden, demonstrations and more. Coupeville Farmers Market opened in early April and is held Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 11 on the Community Green next to the Coupeville Library and municipal parking lot (off Alexander Street). The market is closed Aug. 9. Vendor space is available but limited for crafters and artisans. No online vendor applications accepted. Special events include the Market Basket Giveaway dates on May 31, July 26, and Sept. 20. Harvest Fest and Harvest Relays (in support of local food bank) is Oct. 11. Greenbank Farm and Flea Market is a Sunday event that is part farmers market with locally grown items and part flea market featuring hand made and vintage pieces at Greenbank Farm in Greenbank. It opens for the season on June 2 and will be held through September. (No market will be held on July 28 because of the Loganberry Festival.) Oak Harbor Farmers Market (formerly called the Oak Harbor Public Market) will open for the season on May 15 and be held Thursdays 4 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 25, located next to the Visitor Center in Oak Harbor (just off Highway 20). New this year is a 2-week “special guest” spaces available for crafters/artisans. Produce and processed vendor space still available. South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Market opens for the season, Sunday, May 4. Now in its 43rd season on South Whidbey, it operates from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday at 2812 Thompson Road, off SR 525 between Freeland and Bayview Corner (look for the scarecrow). Special events include: South Whidbey Music Festival, Sunday, July 6; Garden Creature Workshop with Deer Lagoon Grange in preparation for the Fair, Sunday, July 27; and the Halloween Party and Bazaar, Sunday, Oct. 26. SAN JUAN

Orcas Island Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from the first weekend in May to the last weekend of September on the Village Green in the heart of Eastsound. For more information, visit orcasislandfarmersmarket.org.

San Juan Farmers Market opened April 12 and will be held Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  through October at the newly remodeled Friday Harbor Brickworks in Friday Harbor, at Nichols Street and Sunshine Alley. SKAGIT

Anacortes Farmers Market celebrates its 25th anniversary and will have both Saturday and Wednesday markets. It opens for the season on Saturday, May 10 at The Depot, 7th St. and R Ave. in Anacortes. The Saturday market is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and held through Oct. 25. The Wednesday market opens Wednesday, June 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. and will be held through Aug. 27. Bow Little Market will be held Thursdays starting June 12, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Belfast Feed Store and runs through Aug. 28. Special events include Opening Day Skill Share on June 12, Woodworkers’ Day on July 10, Yard Sales on July 24 and Aug. 7, and Fiber Day on Aug. 21. Burlington Summer Nights is a weekly Farmers Market (and live music event) that will be held Friday afternoons from 3 to 7 p.m. (with option to stay longer). Concrete Saturday Market runs every Saturday from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Opening Day, May 24, the Senior Center will be having a biscuits and gravy Breakfast, and local radio station KSVU is holding a bake sale. Mount Vernon Farmers Market will again hold two markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The Saturday Market will be May 31 through Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Cleveland and Snoqualmie (next to the Library). The Wednesday Market will be June 4 through Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the greens of the Kincaid Street Entrance at the Skagit Valley Hospital, 1415 E. Summer hours are 2 to 7 p.m. (June 20 through Aug. 29), and Fall hours are 2 to 6 p.m. (Sept. 5 through Oct. 17).  The Port Susan Farmers Market is located in Stanwood, at the corner of State Route 532 and 88th Street in the Viking Village. The Market also hosts local artisans and offers educational programming with family-friendly activities that focus on food culture and nutrition as well as live music. WHATCOM

Bellingham/Fairhaven: The Bellingham Farmers Market is held each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Depot Market Center, Railroad & Chestnut, and Wednesdays (on a smaller scale) in June through September from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fairhaven Village Green.  Blaine Gardener’s Market is open Saturdays June through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at H Street Plaza in downtown Blaine. The Market is free to vendors. For more information, call (360) 332-6484.

Ferndale Public Market opened on April 19 and is open every Saturday through mid-October at Riverwalk Park along the Nooksack River. A mix of vendors are on site from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional vendors are wanted for the 2014 season. Contact manager@ferndalepublicmarket.org.

Lynden Farmers Market will be held Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m., starting June 19 and through October at  324 Front Street in downtown Lynden (lot next to Centennial Park and directly across from the Jansen Art Center).
