The event is held at the Eastsound Village Green from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., next to the Orcas Island Farmers Market’s opening day events. Visitors 21 and older can taste Northwest ciders and meads for an admission fee based on the desired number of tastes starting at $5. Producers include Wescott Bay, Sky River, Alpenfire, Blue Mountain, Honey Moon, Reverend Nat’s, Tieton Cider Works, Honeyrun, 2 Towns, Adytum Cellars, Hidden Legend, Eaglemount, Shilling, Seattle Cider, Finnriver, and Snowdrift.

Home brew submissions from Orcas residents will be judged by professionals and the winners will be crowned “Orcas Best of the Fest.” In addition, the Farmers Market’s events include cooking  ciders demonstrations, lead by local chef Christina Orchid. Three local bands will perform, including the Dustbunnies, Crow Valley Family Band and Andonimus Sessions.

All week prior to the event, Northwest cider and mead makers will have food pairings and products featured at various Orcas Island restaurants.

The Orcas Island Farm to Cafeteria Program and the Northwest Cider Association produce the event. For more information, see www.orcasislandciderfest.org.

In addition, another annual Orcas event is coming up May 17, when the Student Chef Competition takes place. More information about the The Orcas Island Farm to Cafeteria Program is available at www.orcasislandf2c.org.
