Internship pilot program starts

Aug 1st, 2014 | Category: News

WHATCOM/SKAGIT – The Small Farm Internship Pilot Project (FIP) started July 1, and is open to farms in Skagit and Whatcom counties with annual sales of less than $250,000. Farmers may apply to enroll in a project that allows up to three interns (paid, stipend or unpaid) to work on a farm to learn about farming practices. State officials said applications are available through Labor and Industries website at http://www.lni.wa.gov/WorkplaceRights/Agriculture/SmallFarmIntership/default.asp. If you are a farmer interested in participating in the program, contact Kelly Kane, Farm Internship Project Coordinator at Kelly.Kane@Lni.wa.gov.
