Skagit Women Print features 18 artists
Jan 5th, 2016 | Category: CraftsThe Schack Art Center presents “Skagit Women Print” Jan. 7 through Feb. 4. This special exhibit features the work of 18 artists who live or work in the Skagit Valley and created original print pieces for Skagit Women Print. The theme highlights the Valley’s influences on their work and life.
The artists are: Jane Alynn, Jean Behnke, Eve Deisher, Heidi Epstein, Kathleen Faulkner, Jules Remedios Faye, Jessica Gigot, Kathryn Glowen, Nicolette Harrington, Theodora Jonsson, Ellen Jane Michael, Kris Ekstrand Molesworth, Natalie Niblack, Ann Chadwick Reid, Sue Roberts, Stella Spring, Twila Tate and Kristin Loffer Theiss. The curator is Natalie Nilblack.
A mix of art backgrounds – including painting, poetry, photography and more – the artists each made an edition of 25 prints, according to the Schack Art Center. Printmaking methods included styles using wood block to solar plate etchin and mezzotint.
The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 7 from 5-8 p.m. Aspecial ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. celebrate the opening of the new mezzanine gallery and production studio. In addition, the Schack exhibit will also feature works by friends of Skagit Women Print.
