Concrete raising funds for district-wide cafeteria project

Oct 3rd, 2016 | Category: News

CONCRETE – Concrete Elementary School’s Environment Club is aiming to rid the cafeteria of styrofoam and plastic waste through a donation project that has already received matching funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The donation project, posted through the public classroom funding site DonorsChoose.org, was launched by the students to find lunchroom alternatives.  The project will allow for the purchase of reusable forks, spoons, and bowls, along with Bus Boxes and Cutlery Bin to collect them, and will eliminate plastic and styrofoam waste within the school lunchroom. The project expires Nov. 9, according to Mia Roozen, of the school’s Elementary Environment Club and 3rd/4th Grade teacher. To donate or for more information, go to Donors.Choose.org, and search Concrete, WA.
