Big Hunger forum set for May 5

Apr 25th, 2017 | Category: News

MOUNT VERNON – An upcoming food system forum in Skagit County, Big Hunger, will be held May 5. The keynote speaker Andy Fisher, one of the founders of the community food security movement in the U.S. will share perspectives from his new book that explores the nexus of anti-hunger efforts and longer term solutions to address food access. The gathering will convene food system stakeholders to benchmark food access work to address hunger in reference to the Skagit Food for Skagit People listening session findings and establish an inventory of current efforts. All are welcomed and invited to collaborate: eaters, growers, processors, waste management, consumers, anti-hunger advocates, and government food programs and distribution staff. Registration is $10. The forum meets 11:30-1:30 at Northwest Career and Technical Academy (on the campus of Skagit Valley College). For more information, visit
